Rebranding the home of time

The Royal Museums at Greenwich consist of 4 distinct sites in (you guessed it) Greenwich in London. The Cutty Sark, National Maritime Museum, Queen's House and the Royal Observatory, where 'Greenwich Mean Time' was born.

The ball would drop from the top of the observatory which sits on the Prime Meridian, signalling perfectly the hour for ships on the Thames.

At Deeson (now TPXImpact) we were tasked with upgrading their website from Drupal 7 to Drupal 8, as well as creating a new digital home for their 300,000 collections items.

Over around 8 months, we updated their site, created a new design system and language based on the meridian line, and launched a new modern experience for the collection.
